Ravizza charged in alleged stabbings at McDonald's

A Plymouth County grand jury has indicted Jared Ravizza on assault charges stemming from a stabbing at a Plymouth rest stop.

The 26-year-old man with ties to the Vineyard was charged on Sept. 6 with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of murder and one count of public nuisance, according to a news release from the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office. Ravizza is accused of attacking two McDonald's employees with a kitchen knife.

Prosecutors are taking Ravizza's case to Plymouth Superior Court, although no trial date has been set. Beth Stone, spokeswoman for the Plymouth District Attorney's Office, told the Times the suspect is still being held at the Plymouth House of Corrections.

Ravizza, meanwhile, has several other ongoing court cases in Massachusetts related to a series of alleged violent crimes in May. In Quincy District Court, Ravizza faces four counts of murder and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, dating back to when he allegedly stabbed four girls to death at an AMC movie theater in Braintree, hours before the Plymouth attacks. His next court date in Quincy is Sept. 19, for an update hearing.

Ravizza also has a Sept. 12 arraignment date in Edgartown District Court, a rescheduled arraignment date of July 22. He was charged with assault and battery on a family/household member and vandalism stemming from an incident in West Tisbury. In the incident for which he was arrested in April, he attacked his father and damaged his family home in West Tisbury.

Meanwhile, Connecticut State Police have named Ravizza as a suspect in the murder of 70-year-old Bruce Feldman in Deep River, a town in the south of the state. According to a Braintree Police report, the two men were roommates in Deep River before Ravizza allegedly stabbed Feldman to death.

A spokesman for the Connecticut State Police told the Times that the suspect is not expected to be extradited to Connecticut until the cases in the Massachusetts court are concluded, because Ravizza is in custody and facing criminal proceedings.

Ravizza's alleged rampage began in Connecticut and ended with a car crash in Sandwich, where he was subsequently arrested by Massachusetts State Police. All of the attacks Ravizza is alleged to have committed, with the exception of the West Tisbury incident, took place on May 25.
