Man charged with sexual abuse of children playing game 'Monster'

A Colorado man was sentenced to more than 100 years in prison by a judge for sexually abusing two children in a relative's home in 2021.

James Pinker, 34, was sentenced to 112 years to life in prison by a judge in Weld County, Colorado, on August 30, the Weld County District Attorney's Office announced this week.

In June, he was found guilty of four counts of sexual abuse of a child – a pattern of abuse, according to the statement on Monday, September 9.

The convictions stem from an incident on Dec. 12, 2021, when two girls, whose ages were not disclosed in the statement, were playing downstairs at a relative's house, authorities said.

They said they were playing a game called “Monster” when Pinker came down the stairs and started playing a “kissing game” with them.

“When asked what the 'kissing' game was, the victims said the defendant put his mouth on their 'private parts' and forced them to remove their clothes,” the statement said.

At the sentencing last month, a 17-year-old girl said Pinker sexually abused her when she was young, the statement said.

Assistant District Attorney Timothy McCormack said Pinker abused “several young children,” but it was not immediately clear whether charges had been filed in the other cases.

“Not only were the defendant's actions heinous, he destroyed the innocence and lives of several young children,” McCormack said. “This sentence reflects the seriousness of his crimes and the justice his victims deserve.”
