Apple Watch SE 2 has become cheaper again

Apple offered the Apple Watch Ultra at a slightly lower price last year; the second generation costs 899 euros instead of the 999 euros of the first generation. Nothing has changed since yesterday's keynote, except that you can still order a titanium black watch.

Our US colleagues noticed yesterday that the Apple Watch SE is suddenly available for pre-order, although there is no reason for this. Apple did not mention the model at the keynote. But at least in Germany, one important aspect of the Watch SE has changed – it has become cheaper.

If you want to order the smallest version of the Apple Watch SE, you now pay 249 euros, a price reduction of 30 euros compared to the original price of 279 euros. For the larger version with a 45 mm case length, you pay 279 euros – also a reduction of 20 euros compared to the price from the previous week.

Why Apple has reduced the prices of the Apple Watch SE 2 remains to be seen. The model was originally presented at the keynote in September 2022, and it remains unchanged in its third year of market presence. Apple has only kept the Apple Watch Series 3 in its portfolio for even longer – a full five years. The manufacturer has also repeatedly reduced the prices of this model, so that the Series 3 was on the market last year with an RRP of 219 euros, and the watch was available from third-party retailers for under 200 euros.

Conclusion

With the current price of 249 euros, the manufacturer is setting the bar for its SE watch a little lower than last year. We would rather wait to buy it and watch the offers from third-party retailers, who will reflect this price reduction in their own prices in a few weeks. Because currently the prices of the SE 2 on the market are fluctuating between 220 and 230 euros, in a few weeks it should also fall below 200 euros.
