Woman sexually harassed in moving bus in Calcutta, accused arrested

KOLKATA: A woman was allegedly harassed by a fellow passenger in a moving bus in Kasba area on Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident occurred at about 9.30am when the woman, in her mid-20s, started screaming, prompting passengers to grab the accused and beat him, it said.

An officer said he managed to get off the bus and escape, but people nearby stopped him and took him to Kasba police station.

“The woman reported the incident to the police station and he was subsequently arrested,” he said.

The woman was travelling from Kasba to Phoolbagan for her work, the official added. Investigations are ongoing.
