Palazzo: Variety show starts season on October 26th

Spectacular acrobatics, glamour and menus prepared by star chef Harald Wohlfahrt are the trademarks of the Mannheim Palazzo. The variety show in the tent starts on October 26th in the winter season – with familiar faces, but also many new ones.

“Palazzo is a complete package. “One of the core elements, in addition to the menus created by Harald Wohlfahrt, is of course the show program,” says Rolf Balschbach, producer and managing director of Palazzo Varieté GmbH, at a first preview of the show, which starts in the fall. Stefan Huber, as artistic director, is largely responsible for the program. “But ideas and concepts from all of us flow in.” “One person alone couldn't manage it,” explains Balschbach.

The Mirror Palace at Taylor Park will open its doors from October 26th. Then, every evening, basketball freestyle and acrobatic slam dunking as well as rope skipping at the highest level will ensure speed. Alongside these energetic moments, there are quiet performances such as the poetic dance of Valerie Inerty in the large hoop or the powerful yet elegant handstand acrobatics of Ivan Peres. Luis and Manuela show a wonderful symbiosis of speed and expression in a dance number with salsa and contemporary.

This year, Patrick Lemoine, a versatile artist who is just as good at comedy, juggling and verbal acrobatics as he is at dancing, will be leading the program. He fits in well with the glamorous Palazzo Revue ensemble, which consists of nine dancers and is exclusively outfitted for the Palazzo show by Rhiannah Kitching. 80 percent of the 200 costumes are handmade, reports Stefan Huber. “Rhiannah Kitching does all the dance choreography, which we can coordinate very well with the show acts.” The focus is on smooth transitions rather than a series of program items.

Balschbach, co-producer Gregor Spachmann and co-managing director Tommy Balschbach emphasise that they do not rest on their laurels, but rather think about what they could do differently or in a new way after each season. Guests should be served in the best possible way, from booking to service. Investments have also been made in the kitchen equipment.

With the Palazzo show and the new events that are possible at the new location at Taylor Park, the aim is to appeal to a younger audience and at the same time to attract regulars, says Tommy Spachmann. Palazzo repeat offenders can look forward to seeing familiar faces in the form of pianist Rick Coleman. This also applies to singer Rüdiger Skoczowsky, who this time has the Spaniard Sandra Groove at his side.
