Three teens charged in stabbing at Iowa City West High School in August

Three Johnson County teenagers are facing first-degree burglary charges following an incident reported at Iowa City West High School in August.

A criminal complaint alleges that the 17-year-old Tion Exum-Carson from Coralville and 16-year-old Nathaniel Washington And Moayed Elsideboth from Iowa City, broke into West High around 8 p.m. on August 23.

None of the three accused teenagers attend West High. Both Washington and Exum-Carson had previously committed trespassing at the school in 2022 and received warnings.

The three teens were reportedly caught on West High School surveillance cameras chasing an unnamed 16-year-old boy through the school hallway, according to the criminal complaint. After their arrest, the three allegedly punched, kicked and stabbed the man multiple times, resulting in a cut on the victim's left arm.

The report does not provide any further information about the victim, but a contact ban was imposed on an unnamed 16-year-old.

Washington and Elside made their first court appearance on September 6 and are being held on $50,000 bail each. Exum-Carson made his first court appearance on September 9 and is being held on $75,000 bail.
