Marlon Humphrey, cornerback of the Baltimore Ravens, has sharply attacked Travis Kelce in his podcast “Punch Line” – and claims that the influence of Taylor Swift is the reason he signed a $100 million deal with Amazon for “New Heights”.

Humphrey and the Ravens will face Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium in a major showdown to kick off the new NFL season.

And Humphrey is relishing the chance to inflict a defeat on the Super Bowl winners, given Kelce's dominance in podcasting due to the growing success of New Heights.

Speaking to his co-host Jack Settleman about the game, Humphrey said: “I'm praying for this – that I get to face him because he tried to take everything away from me.”

“He tried to take everything away from me. He has to pay for that. He has to pay for what he did to the podcast space. How he tried to eliminate us.

“And honestly, it's not right. I don't care who he's dating. Are they engaged? I don't care who he's dating.”

Humphrey then took aim at the recent $100 million deal with New Heights that Travis and his brother Jason signed to continue their podcast ahead of the new season.

“On September 6th, it's pod against pod,” Humphrey said — and seemed to wonder when his team will play the Chiefs on September 5. “We'll see which heights are higher. Yes.”

While Humphrey initially seemed angry in his attacks on Kelce, he seemed to calm down more and more as the conversation progressed and adopted a more light-hearted tone.

However, he suggested that Taylor Swift's influence was behind the Kelce brothers' lucrative podcast deal.

“Maybe if you beat him, Amazon will give us the deal,” Settleman said. “Would you talk bad about him and say Taylor's music is garbage? Do you think people have badmouthed Taylor's music on the field?”

“People talk a lot of rubbish,” he said. “But actually he's a cool guy, he's just a football douchebag. What can you really say (about Taylor Swift)?”

“Maybe he'll just start laughing. When he laughs, I'll laugh back. 'I was kidding, bro! Do you want to come on the show and be a guest? Bring Taylor.' That would bring us a lot of people.”

Asked if Swift would draw attention to her podcast, Settleman said, “She wasn't on her podcast! This must have something to do with the Amazon deal.”

Humphrey agreed, saying, “It has to be in the Amazon deal. It has to be. Screw her. Unless she really wants to be in it.”

Last year, Kelce and the Chiefs beat the Ravens 17-10 in Baltimore, won the AFC championship and reached the Super Bowl, where they beat the San Francisco 49ers.

Kelce and the Chiefs want to make history this season: They could become the first team in NFL history to win three Super Bowl titles in a row.

In a speech on Tuesday, Kelce stressed that his fame off the field will not distract him ahead of the new season.

“I just love football. It takes me away from everyday life and gives me something to be really happy about,” he said.

“I enjoy coming into the building and working on my craft, learning a new game plan and perfecting it with the people around me. It gives me a purpose to spend my day and live my life.”

“I'm having so much fun. It's getting hard to know when to stop or not.”
