“The largest Apple Watch display ever” – Apple is advertising the screen of the new smartwatch with great enthusiasm. The manufacturer is now promising 30 percent more display content, and Apple is also installing a new type of wide-angle OLED panel.

This should significantly improve reading from sharp angles and also offer up to 40 percent more brightness. It is also more energy efficient than the previous technology. The always-on display can now update the screen content once per second instead of once per minute, while using the same amount of power.

Thinner and lighter

At 9.7 millimeters, the Apple Watch 10 is the thinnest smartwatch from Cupertino to date. The polished aluminum version is also around 10 percent lighter than previous models. This is made possible by smaller components such as a newly designed speaker that takes up less space.

Fans of the stainless steel version have to be strong: Apple is discontinuing this model completely. Instead, a new version made of polished titanium is coming. This is said to weigh an impressive 20 percent less than the stainless steel smartwatches.

In addition, the manufacturer is using a new metal back. This is intended to significantly improve the Apple Watch's cellular reception. Apple is also installing a new charging coil that allows the watch to be charged to 80 percent in 30 minutes.

New chipset

The Apple Watch Series 10 uses the S10 chip. This is designed to provide particularly good performance while also providing the best possible energy efficiency. The manufacturer states that the battery life is up to 18 hours.

New sensors

Interesting for swimmers: The smartwatch now has a water temperature sensor. There is also a depth gauge up to a depth of six meters. There is also a new feature for the Health app.

The Apple Watch 10 will now also be able to diagnose sleep apnea. However, this feature will also be available on the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and the Apple Watch 9. The suppression of background noise during phone calls will also be improved.

Speakers for music and podcasts

The integrated speaker is finally becoming more versatile. If you left your AirPods at home, you can now play music or podcasts via the internal speaker.

Price and availability

The Apple Watch Series 10 can be pre-ordered from the Apple Store starting September 9th. The market launch will be on September 20th. Prices start at $399 for the aluminum version.
