Dump truck crashes into house in upstate New York – man killed, boy escapes

Sanford, NY – A dump truck crashed into a home in upstate New York Friday afternoon, killing one person and injuring two others.

The fatal accident occurred around 3:11 p.m. in Sanford, a city in the Southern Tier about 30 minutes east of Binghamton.

The dump truck crashed into a house on Old Plank Road, New York State Police said in a news release. The 29-year-old driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

At the time of the accident, three people were in the one-story home, police said: a 10-year-old boy, a 22-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman.

The boy was flown by helicopter to Albany Medical Center. Police did not release any information about the boy's condition or the severity of his injuries.

The emergency services treated the woman on site, police said. The 22-year-old man was not injured.

It is not yet clear what caused the accident, police said. The accident is still being investigated.

The names of the dump truck driver and the people on Old Plank Road have not yet been released.

In addition to police officers, the Deposit Fire Department and Eastern Broom Ambulance Service also arrived at the scene.
