Wilmington man convicted of sex crimes against children

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A 48-year-old Wilmington man was sentenced after pleading guilty in New Hanover County court to three counts of sex crimes against children, according to a news release from the district attorney's office.

According to the press release, Cameron Michael Stone pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault of a child with an adult offender on Tuesday, September 3. Evidence from the case showed that Stone had sexually abused the victim for years prior to his arrest.

Stone was sentenced to 300 to 420 months (25 to 35 years) in prison.

“Upon his release from prison, Stone will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life. Judge Harrell also issued a lifetime protection order on behalf of the victim,” the press release states.
