Luke Mockridge is currently causing quite a stir again. The comedian recently spoke about this year's Paralympics in a podcast. However, instead of honoring the achievements of the various athletes, he took a different approach. He took the sporting event as an opportunity to make a questionable joke.

Instead of laughter and applause, he got backlash and triggered a real shitstorm with his tasteless statements about disabilities. The retaliation came shortly afterwards. Sat.1 canceled one of the comedian's shows. Now there are further setbacks for Luke.

Scandalous jokes: Organizer cancels Luke Mockridge’s performance

After the 35-year-old made anti-disabled comments, he took a public stance on the matter. In a statement, he apologized for having “hurt people.” He also admitted that his joke was “not technically good.” But even an apology didn't help in this case. The comedian must face the consequences of his joke.

So please follow the example of Sat.1. The broadcaster had just announced that it would not be launching Luke Mockridge's new show 'What's in the Box?'. This was already in the starting blocks and was supposed to celebrate his return as a TV presenter on September 12th after around three years. That is the first story.

In addition, it has now been announced that the comedian will be on stage at the “Nightwash” program in Paderborn last Sunday. However, the gig was cancelled at short notice following the Bonn native’s anti-disability comments.

According to “Bild”, the managing director of the Schlosspark and Lippesee Company, Christian Stork, confirmed the removal from the show to the “Westfalen-Blatt”.

App ends cooperation with podcast “Die Deutschen”

But a lost show and the canceled comedy appearance are not the only consequences for Luke Mockridge. A major advertising partner of the podcast “Die Deutschen”, in which the 35-year-old told the scandalous joke, is also punishing him.

The language learning app Babbel will end its sponsorship of the podcast. In an interview with “Spiegel” it says:

“We clearly distance ourselves from the anti-disability statements in the episode in question, as they contradict our values.”

For this reason, the company has decided “not to continue the collaboration.” Ultimately, this not only means another setback for Luke Mockridge, but also an economic fiasco for the entire podcast.

“Every year again,” one would quickly like to write, if it were not so cynical. Luke Mockridge disappeared from the scene for a while, but he did some verbal slander and was suddenly more popular than ever. His new program is called “Funny Times” and what is “funny” is, of course, in the eye of the beholder.
