Investigation of a snare trap after finding a dead badger

Police are investigating suspected wildlife crime in the Yorkshire Dales after a badger was found dead with injuries from a snare trap.

The animal was found on the B6479 towards Horton in Ribblesdale from the direction of Studfold, North Yorkshire Police said.

A veterinarian confirmed that the injuries were not caused by a traffic accident, but by a snare trap.

Officials issued a warning that deliberately trapping badgers was illegal under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992.
