Truck crashes into tree, wheel loader tips into ditch

Leipzig- Excitement on Monday morning in Leipzig Southeast: A truck left the road and crashed into a tree, its trailer and load ended up in the ditch.

The accident occurred on Holzhäuser Straße in the Stötteritz district. As police spokeswoman Sandra Freitag explained in response to a TAG24 query, the driver (58) was traveling in a southeasterly direction in his Mercedes Atego.

At around 9:40 a.m. the vehicle suddenly left the road – the tractor unit crashed into a tree. The trailer, loaded with a wheel loader, tipped into the adjacent ditch.

Fortunately, the 58-year-old remained uninjured, as the emergency services found when they arrived.

Overall, the vehicle, tree and destruction caused high damage of around 50,000 euros.

Traffic on the route was only slightly restricted for a short time, said Freitag. The cause of the accident is being investigated police.
