Former PCSO allegedly stabbed herself in a false attempt to claim compensation

A former PCSO accused of stabbing herself over an alleged false compensation claim is due to appear in court this week.

Olivia Morphew, 24, was charged with perverting the course of justice, fraud and possession of a knife in a public place in connection with an incident in June 2022.

It is alleged that she inflicted a wound on herself in order to claim compensation for the injuries she sustained.

Morphew, who worked as a community support officer for Surrey Police, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), she was charged with criminal offences.

“The charges follow the investigation into an incident in Esher, Surrey, where PCSO Morphew reported being stabbed in an attack in June 2022,” the IOPC said in a statement.

“It is alleged that PCSO Morphew stabbed herself and subsequently made a claim for compensation for her injuries.

“Our investigation began following a police report in July 2022. After completing our investigation in April 2023, we submitted a file of evidence to the public prosecutor's office, which authorized the charges.”

Pending the IOPC investigation, Morphew resigned from Surrey Police in September 2022.
