Latest Apple keynote rumors about iPhone 16, Apple Watch Ultra and AirPods Max

Apple's iPhone keynote 2024 starts at 7 p.m. Shortly before the event, there are fresh rumors about the products that Apple will present – and also about those that we will have to wait a little longer for.

The traditionally well-informed Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman believed that Apple would present its AirPods Max in a second generation on Monday. He writes on X that he now expects better noise cancellation, adaptive audio like the AirPods Pro 2 – possibly through a new H2 chip – and USB-C.

The new AirPods Max will be launched parallel to the AirPods 4, although the devices are currently still readily available in Apple stores.

There are apparently some surprises with the Apple Watch. The Series 10 is supposed to come with a larger screen and thinner casing and will later be able to detect sleep apnea (via an update). 9to5Mac also predicts an improved heart rate sensor with better water resistance. However, Apple is not initially planning on adding blood pressure monitoring as it is too inaccurate with the current sensors.

According to Gurman, an Apple Watch Ultra 3 is not planned. This had long been rumored. Now the Bloomberg man claims to have learned that Apple is no longer able to do it. A year ago, the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo made a similar claim. The Bloomberg journalist instead believed that there would now only be an Ultra 2 in a black titanium color. That would be rather unusual, as the Ultra has been released every year so far. Even the plastic Apple Watch SE could be delayed. However, Gurman had already been spectacularly wrong about Apple's computer watches in the past, believing in a completely new, more angular design that never came.

There is new speculation about 4K recording at 120 fps for the iPhone 16 Pro. Apple is also allegedly testing 8K video recordings, the sensor would be large enough for that. The colors of the titanium models are said to be a new shade of brown or gold this time.

A new iPad mini is not to be expected. Apple does not seem to be planning this before October, when a Mac event with M4 machines is also scheduled, according to industry sources.
