Court rules against dismissed MK party MPs

The Western Cape High Court has ruled against ten former MPs from the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party who had fought against their dismissal.

The members were dismissed to make way for the seven MPs, who include former heads of state-owned companies who were recently sworn in.

MK Party MPs say goodbye to their jobs

Following the dismissal, MK Party spokesman Nhlamulo Ndhlela said many of the people on the party's candidate list should not have been there in the first place.

Ndhlela said her list had been sabotaged and ended up including party leader Jacob Zuma, who she said should not have appeared on the list.

To replace the sacked MPs, the Zuma-led party swore in Mzwanele Manyi, who recently defected from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), former state-owned company bosses Brian Molefe, Siyabonga Gama and Lucky Montana, who are accused of corruption, and Zuma loyalist Thulani Gamede, whose name was removed at the last minute from the list of MK party members entering the KZN parliament.
