Four dead in road accident in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, September 9, 2024 (BSS) – At least four people were killed and one other injured in a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a battery-powered Easybike on the Bagerhat-Khulna highway in Nawapara area of ​​Fakirhat upazila of the district today.

Among the three deceased, Shaukat (40), Masum (30) and Nipa (28) were identified, both residents of Upazila Bagerhat Sadar. The identity of another deceased could not be ascertained.

They were all passengers on the battery-powered Easybike.

The accident occurred in the area when a Khulna-bound pickup truck hit the battery-powered Easybike from the opposite direction at around 9:30 am. Three passengers of the Easybike died at the accident spot and two others were seriously injured, said Ashraful Haque, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Katakhali Highway Police Station.

The injured were taken to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex.

They were later shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment, where one of them succumbed to his injuries, SI reported.

The bodies were kept at the Katakhali Highway Police Station, SI added.
