Apple Watch 10 reportedly with improved ECG function and water resistance, new watch faces and more › Macerkopf

As the next Apple event approaches, we're learning more about the products the company will unveil on Monday. Following a report on sleep apnea detection for the Apple Watch Series 10, 9to5Mac now has more details about the next generation of Apple Watch, including improved ECG and heart rate functionality, improved water resistance, larger displays, and more.

Improved health monitoring features

The Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to feature an improved ECG and heart rate sensor, allowing for more accurate results and new features. One notable new addition is sleep apnea detection, which uses the watch's sleep tracking feature to detect irregularities in breathing during sleep.

If the smartwatch detects repeated pauses in breathing during sleep, the device will recommend that the user see a doctor for further help. This is similar to the way the watch can already alert the user about irregular heart rate, low heart rate, low blood oxygen levels and other health conditions. A diagnosis requires wearing the device for several nights. It is not yet known whether the feature will be available at launch or will be added later.

Apple is also revamping its approach to processing health data. The company plans to move some of the analysis, such as atrial fibrillation detection, from the watch to the Health app on the iPhone. This change could lead to comprehensive health information for users.

Larger displays and new watch faces

The rumors suggest that the new Apple Watch Series 10 will get larger displays, with 44mm and 48mm models expected. These larger displays will accommodate new watch faces, including “Reflections,” which reacts to the ambient lighting conditions. Apple is also planning a watch face designed by Hermès called “Regatta,” aimed at sailing fans with a built-in timer function.

Interestingly, the Hermès watch face will also be available for the Apple Watch Ultra, hinting at the launch of Hermès straps for the rugged smartwatch. In addition, a new complication will display tide information.

Improved water resistance

Apple is improving the water resistance of the Series 10. While the current Series 9 is water resistant to 50 meters, the new model will be certified for high-speed water sports at depths of up to 20 meters. This puts the standard Apple Watch on the same level as the Apple Watch Ultra.

As part of the improved water resistance, the Series 10 will be equipped with the Depth app, which was previously exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra. This gives users detailed information about activities in the water.

Design updates

According to reports, the Apple Watch Series 10 will have a slimmer design. There will also be an innovation in the material used. According to this, Apple could completely remove the stainless steel version of the watch from the range. Instead, a version made of titanium will be introduced – a material that was previously reserved for the Apple Watch Ultra. This change would not only reduce the weight of the watch, but also increase its durability.

In keeping with the possible change in material, there is also speculation about a new edition of the popular Milanese bracelet. After ten years, it has been revised for the first time and is also made of titanium. It is also expected that Apple will announce an updated version of the Apple Watch SE and an Apple Watch Ultra 3.
