Alexander Pröll jousts for turquoise preferential votes

The son of the former party leader is engaged in an intensive election campaign. He needs preferential votes to enter parliament.

Chancellor Karl Nehammer leads the ÖVP federal list, with ministers such as Schallenberg and Polaschek missing. Federal Secretary Alexander Pröll, the son of former party leader Josef Pröll, is only in 19th place. His great-uncle is the former governor of Lower Austria, Erwin Pröll.

For Alexander Pröll, or “Xandi”, as the 34-year-old is called internally, it means fighting for a seat in the National Council.

“Beate chooses Pröll”

19th place on the federal list would have been close in the last election – now the ÖVP is likely to lose by double digits.

Pröll needs preferential votes – tens of thousands of them – for a preferential vote. In an earlier video it is now said – “Your neighbor votes for Pröll. Your boss votes for Pröll. Beate votes for Pröll. Even your dog would vote for Pröll.”

The fact that “Beate Pröll also votes” can be understood as a swipe at Neos leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger.
