Panther attack kills woman in Udaipur

Udaipur (Rajasthan) [India]September 8 (ANI): A woman was killed after she was attacked by a panther in Kirat under Jhadol police station area on Sunday morning.

The dead woman is Mirabai Ahari, a 40-year-old resident of Dhikalia who was attacked while collecting wood.

On receiving this information, officials from Jhadol police station and forest department reached the spot. After a search in the dense forest, the mutilated body of the victim was found.

Angry villagers blocked National Highway 58 E for six hours after the incident.

Babu Lal Kharidi, Cabinet Minister of Rajasthan, said it was a tragic incident and compensation would be paid to the family of the deceased.

Speaking to ANI, Kharidi said, “The incident was very unfortunate. The woman who was attacked by the panther has died. We understand the anger of the people over the incident. We will pay compensation to the family of the deceased.” The body has been sent to the morgue for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, search operations have been intensified in Bahraich in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh to hunt down the man-eating wolves that killed a three-year-old girl and injured 40 people in the district.

So far, four wolves have been found and the search for the remaining two wolves continues.

The Bahraich Forest Department has installed cameras in most of the likely habitats of the wolves in the area to monitor their movements. This will also help the Forest Department to know more about the movements of the wolves and capture them.

The forest department has installed these cameras to capture images of the wolves. Sanjay Pathak, Director General of the Forest Department, said that the camera strategy works automatically and without human intervention, which makes the wolves feel good as they do not sense human presence.

Speaking to ANI, Pathak said, “The cameras installed will function without human intervention, which makes the wolves feel good as they do not detect the strange smell of humans.” (ANI)
