Russians shelled village in Donetsk region with cluster munitions

On the morning of September 8, Russian troops in the Donetsk region fired cluster munitions rockets at the village of Cherkaske in the Kramatorsk district, killing three people and injuring two others.

This was reported in a telegram from the information policy department of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office, Ukrinform reports.

“On September 8, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., the aggressor state's troops fired, probably from a multiple rocket launcher system, at the village of Cherkaske, Kramatorsk district. Two local women, aged 43 and 53, died from cluster munitions that hit the villagers' gardens. Another 45-year-old woman received fatal injuries in her house,” the statement said.

It is noted that a 48-year-old citizen and the 61-year-old husband of one of the killed women suffered mine trauma, shrapnel injuries and a head injury during the enemy attack.

The injured were taken to hospital where they received qualified medical care.

In the village, windows, facades and fences were damaged in at least nine households and one car.

Under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, an investigation was initiated in a criminal case of violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

As reported, five civilians were killed and eleven others injured as a result of Russian artillery shelling in the Donetsk region in recent days.
