Season eight started: “Who’s stealing my show?”: These celebrities challenge Jokos

The eighth season of the popular quiz format “Who's stealing my show?” has started. These three celebrities have their sights set on Joko Winterscheidt's show and want to prove themselves as quizmasters.

“Who's stealing my show?” is returning to television screens (from September 8th every Sunday at 8:15 p.m. on ProSieben, always a week before on Joyn). In the eighth round of the quiz format, a singer, a comedian and a podcaster compete against Joko Winterscheidt (45) with the aim of taking the show away from him.

Podcaster with his own TV show

Tommi Schmitt (35), originally from Detmold, studied media communication and journalism and completed an internship in the press department at his favorite club Borussia Mönchengladbach. He wrote as an author for various comedy shows such as “TV Total”. He dropped out of his master's degree in Hanover and concentrated on comedy. In 2017, his successful career as a podcaster began. Together with comedian Felix Lobrecht (35), he founded the podcast “Gemischtes Hack”, which regularly tops the Spotify top 10 lists and has already won the German Comedy Award.

In addition to the other podcast “Copa TS”, in which Tommi Schmitt shows his last enthusiasm for football, he has increasingly been drawn in front of the TV camera over the years. He has appeared in the second season of the Amazon comedy show “LOL: Last One Laughing” and in ProSieben formats such as “Das Duell um die Welt” and “Joko & Klaas gegen ProSieben”. After his own ZDFneo show, “Studio Schmitt” followed with “Neo Ragazzi”, a joint talk show with Sophie Passmann (30). During the 2024 European Football Championship, he was part of the ZDF documentary “Heimvorteil” and accompanied players on their way to being nominated for the European Championship.

Multi-talented with a big hit

The musician Nina Chuba (25) was born in Wedel and began her career with acting roles. At the age of seven, she took on the role of Marie Krogmann in “Die Pfefferkörner”. She could also be seen in shows such as “Notruf Hafenkante”, “Letzte Spur Berlin” and “Das Traumschiff”. Nina Katrin Kaiser, as she was born, started her musical career in 2016 in the band Blizz. After moving to Berlin in 2018, she devoted herself to her career as a solo artist under the stage name Nina Chuba.

After initially releasing English-language songs, they released their first song lyrics in German in 2021. The following year, they made their breakthrough with the German-language song “Wildberry Lillet”. The hit jumped to number one in the German singles charts. In 2023, Nina Chuba released her first studio album “Glas”, which includes songs such as “Mangos mit Chili”, “Glatteis” and “Ich hass dich”. The singer has already received the “1 Live Krone” several times, including in the “Best Female Artist” category. In 2025, she will start her first major arena tour.

Comedian and honest author

Showbiz veteran Kurt Krömer (49) was born in Neukölln as Alexander Bojcan. He initially appeared in the capital under his pseudonym, which is characterized by a Berlin accent, suit with suspenders and glasses. His first own late-night show was broadcast on television in 2004. Formats such as “The Kurt Krömer Show” (rbb), “Bei Krömers”, “Krömer – The International Show” and “Krömer – Late Night Show” followed. The show “Chez Krömer” ran on rbb in seven seasons from 2019 to 2022, which repeatedly causes a stir with controversial guests and in which Krömer was shown unmistakably what he thinks of the views of his guests.

He also became known to a wider audience through the Amazon comedy show “LOL”, in which he took part several times. Krömer can also be seen on the theater stage and has had film roles in films such as the comedy “An Island Called Udo” (2011) and “Bibi & Tina – Simply Different” (2022). With “Feelings” he has his own talk podcast with prominent guests. In an episode of his show “Chez Krömer”, the recovering alcoholic spoke openly with Torsten Sträter (57) about his depression, about which the father of four also wrote the book “You must not believe everything you think: My Depression”.

The concept of “WSMDS”

The candidates – three celebrities and one wildcard competitor – try to make it to the final in eight quiz categories and three prize levels. After each prize level, a show must be left. At the end, presenter Joko Winterscheidt faces the remaining participant in a direct duel – and risks losing his show in the final quiz with presenter Katrin Bauerfeind (42).

The winner can host the next episode of “Who's Stealing My Show?” according to his or her own ideas. Winterscheidt switched to the other side and tried to win back his show. In the last episode of the seasons broadcast so far, the winner could look forward to his or her own cover on a puzzle booklet or have their forehead immortalized on the “Walk of Brain” with an imprint of their forehead.
