Chinese kindergarten director fired for accepting chocolate gifts worth less than a dollar – sues school

A kindergarten in China fired its director because she accepted a small box of chocolates worth 85 US cents from a student.

Wang, the director of the Sanxia Kindergarten in southwest China's Chongqing, has taken legal action against her former employer after she was fired in September last year, China National Radio reported.

Surveillance footage from the kindergarten showed a boy handing Wang, who was sitting at the front of the classroom with another teacher, a plastic bag containing a box of chocolates.

Wang accepted the 6.16 yuan gift from the boy and hugged him.

She later shared the chocolate with other children at the kindergarten, the report said.
