40-year-old arrested for sexually abusing 13-year-old neighbour in Delhi's Ranhola | Latest news from Delhi

Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting his 13-year-old neighbor at knifepoint in Ranhola on Friday afternoon. The accused has been on the run since the incident, police said.

The incident was reported to police by the girl's mother around 4 pm on Friday. The girl told police that her mother was not there at the time of the incident, a senior officer said.

According to the version of events shared by police, the neighbor entered her house with a knife, ordered her to undress, touched her inappropriately and allegedly tried to rape her, but fled when the girl screamed for help. He threw money at the girl and threatened her not to tell anyone about it, police said.

The official, who wished to remain anonymous, said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS and POCSO Act and an investigation has been initiated. “The accused has fled along with his entire family. Teams have been formed to nab him,” the official said.

The girl was medically examined and given advice, police said.
