Nick Kyrgios makes brutal two-word comment about Jannik Sinner's relationship with his ex | Tennis | Sport

Nick Kyrgios aimed a dig at Jannik Sinner after being reminded of his previous relationship with Anna Kalinskaya.

The WTA world number 15 has been dating Sinner since the beginning of the year and was seen in his box at his recent US Open matches.

On Saturday, Kyrgios responded to a photo of himself and Kalinskaya at an LA Lakers game in 2020 with a two-word comment.

Kyrgios has been very vocal since it was revealed that Sinner bore “no fault or negligence” in two anti-doping violations after he tested positive twice for the banned substance clostebol in March. The world No. 1 immediately appealed his two provisional suspensions after three experts found his explanation of contamination plausible.

That meant he was allowed to continue playing until his hearing last month. The “no fault or negligence” verdict meant Sinner was not banned. However, the Australian asked for a two-year ban and continued to pursue his doping case.

Fans on social media are speculating whether Kyrgios harbors bitterness over Sinner dating his ex Kalinskaya. The 2022 Wimbledon finalist spoke about their past relationship on Saturday, responding to an old photo of them. “Second serve,” he wrote.

Kyrgios was not tagged in the post and the tweet contained no text, but he still managed to find the old snap. The user quickly deleted it, but screenshots started popping up all over social media and he faced backlash.

The former world number 13 was quick to respond to the fallout. “Right… so I'm the bad guy for saying something about it? I never mentioned it lol,” he wrote, adding a laughing emoji. “Don't take offense if people mention it. Simple.”

Sinner and Kalinskaya have not addressed the Russian tennis star's past with Kyrgios since their relationship. Rumors that Kyrgios and Kalinskaya were dating began when they were spotted at the Staples Center in early 2020.
