Four suicide bombers killed as Pakistani security forces repel attack in KP

Islamabad, September 7 (IANS): Four suicide bombers were killed when security forces repelled an attack on a military headquarters in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, an army statement said on Saturday.

The incident was reported in the province's Mohmand district when the four terrorists from a group attacked a headquarters of the paramilitary Frontier Corps, the statement from the military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said.

The attempt to enter the camp was successfully thwarted by security forces, the ISPR said. The Xinhua news agency reported, citing the ISPR, that all four suicide bombers were neutralized before they could cause the intended damage.

Cleanup operations are being carried out to eliminate further terrorists in the area, it said.

The military said Pakistani security forces were determined to eradicate the terrorist threat from the South Asian country.
