Finance Minister John Mbadi and his counterpart in the Ministry of Agriculture, Alice Wahome, have made important changes in their ministries to improve service delivery.

In an official communication dated September 6, 2024, CS Mbadi dismissed four officials: Martha Opisa Okochil, Louis Karisa, Ruth Jerotich and Tom Okundi, who served as trustees of the Kenya National Entrepreneurs Savings Trust.

The Trust is a national pension scheme set up by the government to support workers in the informal sector across the country.

In their place, Mbadi appointed four new members; Irene Githiga (Federation of Matatu Drivers and Conductors Association), Kevin Bwire Mubadi (Kenya National Boda Boda Association), Joseph Kisoro Ogola (Kenya National Federation of Jua Kali Association) and Teresia Njenga (Mitumba Association).

The term of office of the new appointments begins with immediate effect for three years.

However, of the four officials dismissed, two were appointed by Health Minister Deborah Barasa as members of the National Council for the Control of Syndemic Diseases for three years.

These include Ruth Jerotich and Tom Okundi.

Another civil servant, Louis Karisa, was appointed by Public Service CS Justin Muturi as a member of the Advisory Board of the Women Enterprise Fund for a three-year term.

On the other hand, CS Wahome dismissed eight officials who were serving as members of the Lamu West Land Control Board.

They include Julia Wamboi Njuguna, Ali Omar Mohammed, Simon Muguro Mwarania, Julia Wamaitha Kimani, John Mbugua Njoka, Zeinabu Gobu Wako, James Muriithi Ngiriri and Cecilia Wanjiku Ng'ang'a.

The new officials appointed to replace them include Samoe Farouk Fadhil, District Planning Officer, Moses Kiarie Wanjiku, Omar Bakari Ibrahim, Nasra Abdurehman Omar, Biha Wanje Baya, Maalim Fadhili Maalim and Abubakar Masoud Rashid.

Their term of office will be two years and six months, with immediate effect.

The changes come amid growing pressure on President William Ruto's cabinet to deliver on its promises. The past two months have seen nationwide protests as the public expressed dissatisfaction with Kenya's Kwanza regime.
