Rashtriya Poshan Maah reports Rs 1.37 Cr activities so far: Ministry

New Delhi [India]September 7 (ANI): After the launch of the 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, activities worth Rs 1.37 crore have been reported so far from 752 districts of 35 states and union territories, according to the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

The ministry said on Saturday that Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are among the states with the highest contribution payments so far.

The 7th ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ was inaugurated on August 31, 2024, at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It focuses on key issues like Anaemia, Growth Monitoring, Complementary Feeding and Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi and Technology for Better Governance.

The campaign also emphasised on environmental sustainability through the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, under which plantation is being promoted in all the 13.95 lakh operational Anganwadi centres.

In terms of key focus areas, over 3.9 million activities on anaemia, over 2.7 million activities on growth monitoring, nearly 2 million activities on complementary feeding, over 1.85 million activities on 'Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi' and 800,000 activities on environmental sustainability through 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' were carried out till Saturday, according to the ministry.

“One of the key focus areas, namely technology for better governance, has encouraged the relevant officials of WCD to tag over 1 million activities aimed at assisting in the effective implementation and monitoring of nutrition indicators and programme areas in general, linked to the ICT application Poshan Tracker,” the ministry said.

It was also highlighted that the ministries that contributed the most to the ongoing 'Poshan Maah' were the Ministry of Education (MoE) with 138,000 activities, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) with 117,000 activities, the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) with 107,000 activities, the Ayush Ministry with 69,000 activities and the Panchayati Raj Ministry (MoPR) with 64,000 activities in support of one or the other theme of 'Poshan Maah 2024'.
