Man charged with grievous bodily harm after attempting to stab someone

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) – A man has been charged with aggravated assault after attempting to stab another person, according to Carbondale police.

According to Carbondale police, officers responded to a report of an assault in the 600 block of North Illinois Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, September 6. Officers learned that the suspect was chasing the victim down the street and attempted to stab him.

The investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a personal dispute between the victim and the suspect. The suspect, identified as 66-year-old Henry C. Davis of Cairo, suffered a non-life-threatening injury when he was struck by a vehicle while chasing the victim on the street.

According to police, Davis was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment. The victim was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries sustained in the incident.

Davis was issued a summons for aggravated assault and released pending his court date.
