Beetz Brothers documentary on Hamas attack nominated for German Television Award – Nachrichten AG

The film production company Beetz Brothers has good news to report for their impressive work “Hamas attack on the festival – the survivors of the desert rave”. The 32-minute documentary, which was first shown on the channels ARTE and ZDF in November 2023, has received the nomination for the German Television Award 2024 in the category “Best Documentary”. This is an outstanding recognition that honors the relevance of the topic and the quality of the production.

The documentary is an intensive examination of the dramatic Hamas attack on a music festival in Israel on October 7, 2023. These horrific events, which took on shocking proportions, were vividly documented through moving interviews with survivors and extensive real-time footage. The production attracted great international interest beyond Israel's borders and offered a deep insight into the impact of the violence.

A comprehensive team behind the camera

Producer Reinhardt Beetz of Beetz Brothers and director Duki Dror of Zygote Films, who have already worked together on numerous award-winning projects, see this nomination as an important confirmation of the extensive efforts of the entire team. “This nomination is not only an award for us, but also an important step in hearing the voices of the survivors and making their stories accessible to a global audience,” explained Beetz, thus highlighting the important role of the documentary.

The creative team also includes well-known filmmakers such as Yossi Bloch, known for his work for Netflix, and Noam Pinchas, who won awards for his work on “Murky Skies.” Producer Danna Stern has also brought experienced colleagues into the production with projects such as “Fauda” and “The Devil Next Door.”

The nomination underscores the urgency of issues such as the film's, which are impressively conveyed through meticulous research and in-depth documentation. In addition, the 52-minute internationally marketed version “Supernova: The Music Festival Massacre” has received several nominations and awards, including a prestigious award in 2024.

The documentary was part of a series dealing with the horrific attacks in Israel. Another project by Beetz Brothers is still in the pipeline: “Trauma in the Middle East – October 7th and its consequences” will premiere in Germany on September 24, 2024. The 90-minute film will examine the events of October 7th and the subsequent conflict and deal with the traumatic spiral of violence in the Middle East.

Beetz Brothers was founded in 2000 and has since produced over 250 documentaries and films. Their productions range from crime documentaries to moving biographies and have received numerous international awards. One of their most recent productions is the acclaimed Sky Original documentary series “Juan Carlos – Love, Money, Betrayal”. But the film production company sees itself as only part of a much larger narrative that is set in the context of these dark and tragic events.

For viewers, the film not only provides information, but also emotional depth that makes people think and focuses on the stories of those affected. Ultimately, the job of documentaries is not just to inform, but also to arouse empathy and inspire audiences to take action.
