North Bay News: Man charged with knife attack

A 20-year-old North Bay man has been charged following a knife-wielding altercation near Kinsmen Beach on Wednesday night.

After multiple reports of a disturbance on September 4 at around 5:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a parking lot in the 1400 block of Henry Street.


“It is alleged that the defendant threatened the victims while they were in a vehicle and then attacked the vehicle with a knife while continuing to make threats toward the victims,” ​​North Bay police said in a news release Friday.

The suspect fled before officers arrived at the scene and found the victims.

He was arrested a short time later a block away.

The defendant is accused of assault with a weapon, dangerous possession of a weapon and threatening behavior.

David Woolley, a police spokesman, told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email that the victim and the accused know each other.

He could not provide any information about the exact nature of the incident.

The defendant was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
