The Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is requesting public assistance in investigating a sexual assault in the Godfrey area.

According to an OPP press release, in the early hours of Saturday, August 31, 2024, a young person was sexually assaulted by three unknown men at a campsite.

“It occurred near the beach and involved three male parties who had been drinking prior to the attack,” police said. “There is no ongoing public safety concern as this is believed to be an isolated incident.”

In response to questions from Kingston residents, Constable Robert Martell said the OPP could not disclose which campground the robbery occurred at “for investigative reasons.” He only noted that the campground was in Godrey itself. Godfrey is in Central Frontenac Township, north of Verona and south of Parham.

Martell confirmed that the victim of the assault was a juvenile (under 18 years old) and further disclosed that the three male suspects are also believed to be under 18 years old. Additional identifying information about the victim, including gender, is not being released at this time.

According to the OPP, members of the Frontenac Detachment Crime Unit are asking for the public's help, such as witnesses, video footage or anything that could help identify the men.

If you have any helpful information, please call Frontenac OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and reference incident number E241169511. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
