“Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent”: German release this month

With seven series, almost 70 series seasons and over 1300 episodes, Dick Wolf's “Law and order” the largest and most successful US series franchise of all time. The parent series and its first spin-off “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” occupy the top two spots among the longest-running US primetime series of all time and will enter their 24th and 26th seasons this fall.

Although the series are firmly anchored in the US legal system and culture, the concept was also well received beyond the borders of the USA. Not only did the original series have millions of fans around the world, there were also international versions of the three most successful “Law and order”series. However, the most popular template is neither the parent series nor “Special unit for victims”rather “Criminal Intent – ​​Crime in the Crosshairs” with Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe, which ran on NBC between 2001 and 2011. “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” premiered in February on the Canadian broadcaster CityTV and follows the same principle of an elite unit of investigators as its role model. The new stories are to be told from a Canadian perspective and so both the creatives behind the camera and the entire cast come from the USA's neighbouring country. Tassie Cameron (“Rookie Blue”). The main roles are played by Aden Young (“Fix”) as Detective Sergeant Henry Graff, Kathleen Munroe (“City in Flames”) as Detective Sergeant Frankie Bateman, Karen Robinson (“Schitt's Creek”) as Inspector Vivienne Holness and KC Collins (“The cleaning lady”) as Assistant Crown Prosecutor Theo Forrester. The series is set in the same universe as the US “Law and order”-Series, but crossovers are not planned yet.

In Germany, “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” Will be shown this month on 13th Street on pay TV, where the original series was broadcast. 17 September at 20:15 Celebrates the series premiere, the ten-part first season will be broadcast daily at prime time in double episodes.
