The past few months have been one big success for Toprak Razgatlioglu in the Superbike World Championship. He quickly adapted to the BMW M 1000 RR, which was new to him, winning the second race in Barcelona and has now won 13 races in the series. He is now 92 points ahead of Ducati man Nicolo Bulega in the lead in the World Championship.

Toprak Razgatlioglu suffered a serious crash in Magny-Cours

On Friday in Magny-Cours, Razgatlioglu once again came into contact with the dark side of the sport. After setting the fastest time in the first free practice session, the Turk was also on course for the fastest time in FP2 before he crashed in the fast left-hand bend 14. The following bend 15 is a tight right-hand bend. To prevent the motorcycles from returning to the track here, a wall has been installed on the inside of the bend.

This, however, proved to be Razgatlioglu's downfall. He crashed at high speed into the track barrier, which was only secured with stacks of tires. The session was immediately interrupted with a red flag, as Razgatlioglu remained lying there visibly injured. He was eventually able to leave the scene of the accident on his own two feet, but was immediately taken away in an ambulance.

All clear for Toprak Razgatlioglu: Only bruises

Razgatlioglu was then flown to the hospital by helicopter. There, the WSBK star was given the all-clear: miraculously, he escaped with bruises on his back. Razgatlioglu will be examined by the race doctors on Saturday morning before the third free practice session, who will then decide whether the world championship leader is allowed to start.

After FP3 at 9 a.m., the Superbike World Championship will have Superpole at 11 a.m., before the first race of the weekend takes place at 2 p.m.
