Fall Festivals and Halloween Events in Calgary 2024

If you're a fan of fall festivals or spooky celebrations, there's plenty to do in Calgary this fall.

Here’s a look at just a few of them…


Pumpkin Harvest Festival


What: Butterfield Acres hosts its annual Pumpkin Harvest Festival with a pumpkin patch, corn maze and other Halloween activities.


When: In October, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Where: Butterfield Acres, 254077 Rocky Ridge Rd. NW


Thanksgiving


What: This year, Granary Road will combine Pickle Palooza, Garlic Breath and Apple and Pumpkin Fest into one harvest festival, and organizers promise the event will have something for everyone.


When: Saturday, September 28th, Sunday, September 29th, Saturday, October 5th, Sunday, October 6th.


Where: Granary Road, 226066 112 St. West, Foothills County, Alta.


Autumn days and harvest lights


What: The Calgary Farmyard will feature special fall decorations during Fall Days and Harvest Lights, both beginning Friday, September 13.

At Fall Days, you'll find pumpkin displays perfect for family photos—and if you want to carve a jack-o-lantern, you can purchase the pumpkins, too.

Once the sun has set, “Harvest Lights” takes place and illuminates the park with a colorful light show from thousands of light bulbs.


When: Fall Days take place on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Sundays and holidays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Harvest Lights takes place Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Pumpkins after dark


What: Pumpkins After Dark returns to Calgary this fall. The event allows visitors to walk down a path of illuminated pumpkin sculptures and displays of more than 10,000 hand-carved jack-o-lanterns.

It is a family-friendly event that, according to organizers, offers plenty of Instagram-worthy photo opportunities.

There will also be live pumpkin carving and autumnal treats and sweets.


When: Friday, September 20 to Thursday, October 31, 2024.


Where: Winsport, 88 Canada Olympic Rd. SW


Screamfest


What: Screamfest offers visitors several different haunted houses – including The Dollhouse, which is new for 2024, and Zombie Outbreak, the most extreme on the list. In addition to the haunted houses, there are also rides, monster trucks, and a “Middle of the Mayhem.”


When: 7pm to midnight on October 11, 12, 18, 19, 24 (adults only – 18+), 25, 26, 27, 30 and 31.


Where: GMC Stadium at Stampede Park, 2200 Stampede Tr. SE


Field of Screams


What: Cobbs Adventure Park hosts Field of Screams, an outdoor Halloween event where visitors can roam 50 acres at night and test their courage in a series of haunted houses.


When: 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on October 11, 12, 17 (adults only – 18+), 18, 19, 25 and 26.


Where: Cobbs Adventure Park, 1500 84 St. NE


Spooky-spectacular ghost mini golf


What: WinSport's 18-hole outdoor mini golf course will be decorated with Halloween decorations, transforming it into a spectacular haunted mini golf course.

According to officials, the course will be well lit and will be challenging for all ages and ability levels.

Participants are asked to wear their Halloween costume for their visit.


When: 20.09. – 31.10.2024. Weekdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., weekends from 1 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.

Ghost tours of Calgary


What: Discover the spooky side of Heritage Park by visiting after dark for a ghost tour.


When: September 18, 19, 25 and 26. October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17.


Where: Heritage Park, 1900 Heritage Dr. SW


Train of Terror


What: The Train of Terror is considered Canada's only moving haunted attraction because it takes place on a train.

It takes about two hours in total and includes two labyrinths and a one and a half hour train ride.

Officials warn that the event is no “ordinary haunted house,” as performers are allowed to touch, grab and follow visitors. “This is not for the faint of heart and is intended for audiences 18 and older,” the website warns.


When: October 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26, 27 and 31. November 1 and 2, 2024.


Where: Aspen Crossing station in Mossleigh, Alta.
