Lynx vs. Fever WNBA prediction, odds and key players to watch on Friday, September 6 (Ke

The Indiana Fever have secured a place in the playoffs and, depending on their top-three finish, could face the Minnesota Lynx in the first round of the playoffs.

Minnesota won the WNBA Commissioner's Cup this season and has an MVP candidate in Napheesa Collier, who leads the No. 4 offense and No. 3 defense in the W.

Indiana, however, may be the best team in the league. Not only have the Fever won five straight games, putting them two games over .500 this season, but they also have a 17-8 record after starting the season 1-8.

A big reason for this is rookie sensation Caitlin Clark (third in WNBA MVP odds), as she averages 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game and has recorded several 25-point, 10-assist games this season.

Indiana has been a lucrative opponent at home, especially given their recent winning streak, but bookmakers see the Lynx as favorites in this duel.

Minnesota won the last time these teams met in Minnesota by 10 points, but how will it go in Indiana?

Let's break down the odds, the key players to watch out for, and my top tip for Friday night.

Report of injuries caused by Indiana fever

Minnesota Lynx

Napheesa Collier: Collier has been a big reason the Lynx are a contender this season, averaging 20.4 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. She dominated Indiana a few games ago, scoring 31 points in a win.

Indiana fever

Caitlin Clark: After her triple-double (24 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) against the Los Angeles Sparks, Clark is now averaging 24.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game and is shooting 38.8 percent of her threes since the Olympic break. She has helped the Fever secure a playoff spot and should be considered for MVP this season. (Clark is already a surefire Rookie of the Year).

I don't mind betting on the Fever as an underdog, but I have a lot of respect for Minnesota's performance this season (2nd in the league in net rating), so my best bet is no surprise.

Instead, the OVER is chosen, which was achieved in 22 of the Fever's 34 games this season.

Indiana has the profile of a perfect-over team, ranking third in the league in offensive rating, 11th in defensive rating and fourth in pace. Since the Olympic break, the Fever has been No. 1 in the league in pace and lets Clark pick up the pace whenever she can.

This allowed her teammate Kelsey Mitchell to gain momentum and the Fever were able to develop into the number 1 offensive team over a period of eight games.

The team in second place? Minnesota.

The last time these teams met, they combined for exactly 170 points, but Indiana's offense was even better at home (fourth in home offensive rating and No. 2 in effective field goal percentage).

It wouldn't shock me if the Fever tried to turn this game into a track and field meet to pull off an upset.

Selection: OVER 170 (-110)
