French-made artillery destroyed on Russian territory

A 155 mm Caesar self-propelled gun was eliminated in the Kursk region, several kilometers from the border, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said

Moscow forces have destroyed a French-made self-propelled howitzer used by Ukraine in the Kursk region, the Russian Defense Ministry said, releasing a video of the attack.

A ministry statement quoted by the TASS news agency on Friday said a Russian reconnaissance drone had spotted a 155mm Caesar self-propelled gun near the settlement of Nikolayevo-Daryino, several kilometers from the border.

Officials added that the drone operator passed the coordinates of the self-propelled gun to Russian artillery, which then carried out a targeted attack on the gun's position. “The fact that the target was hit was confirmed by an objective control: intense fire was recorded at the position of the enemy weapon.” was the explanation.

High-altitude footage released by the ministry shows the howitzer, accompanied by another vehicle, driving quickly down the road, pulling over to the side of the road and heading deeper into the forest. Moments later, a massive explosion occurs in the forest, sending plumes of smoke into the air.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the destruction of another Caesar aircraft, this time in Donbass, adding that it had been hit by a kamikaze drone.

Early last month, Ukraine began its major advance into Russia's Kursk region, backed by Western weapons. Kyiv made some initial progress, but Moscow said the advance had been halted. Ukrainian losses since the start of the attack amount to over 10,000 soldiers and nearly 800 armored vehicles.
