Homeless man in Florida stabs and attacks two people after they offered him food instead of money

Two Good Samaritans got into a violent confrontation with a homeless man in Indiantown after the suspect did not like their offer of help, the sheriff's office said of the attack, which was captured on video.

The victims reported to the Martin County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) that on August 30, a homeless man, Jerquavious Jackson, 24, approached the victims at Post Family Park in Indiantown and asked them for some money. Instead of money, they offered him food, WPTV reported.

Instead of accepting the offer, according to officials, Jackson began violently attacking the victims and even stabbed one of them, who suffered a cut on the leg. One of the victims, a woman, was able to film the attack on her cellphone in a gazebo in the park.

The video shows Jackson lifting the second victim off the ground and then throwing him onto the sidewalk. After the stabbing, Jackson fled the scene on the victim's bicycle, according to the sheriff. Fortunately, neither victim suffered life-threatening injuries.

Officers were notified of the attack shortly before 8 p.m. and immediately began searching the area. The MCSO said Jackson was found at a nearby Circle K convenience store. Investigators believe he was looking for more victims to rob.

The sheriff's office said officers were able to arrest Jackson without further incident. Jackson was found with a box cutter that was stained with dried blood. He was arrested and booked into the Martin County Jail on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After being read his Miranda rights, Jackson gave contradictory statements, according to officers, eventually stating that he “sometimes lost consciousness during incidents like the one in the park.” Jackson is being held in the Martin County Jail on $52,000 bail.
