Game of the Week Preview: Dow Chargers

MIDLAND, Michigan (WNEM) – TV5 continues to preview our game of the week, sponsored by Genesee Health Plan. This week the Heritage Hawks take on the Midland Dow Chargers.

The Chargers lost away to Fenton in the first week.

Dow hopes to learn from his mistakes and correct them before facing the Hawks on Friday, September 6.

The Chargers are excited for their first home game.

Linebacker Jay Stevens is playing his first year of college football after spending his sophomore year on the junior team. For him, Friday's home game was a dream come true and he's thrilled to be able to experience it.

“Well, I've been looking forward to this my whole life, since my first Dow game, so it's going to be really exciting. Very nervous, I know right now I'm going to be very nervous. My heart is going to be racing, but I'm so excited about it. I'm not going to sleep the night before, that's for sure. We just have to get the guys really pumped up. I mean, it's our first home game, we have to show the city what we're about,” he said.

“They're hot. There should be a lot of people there. Like I said, this is a team we played twice last year. They travel well, so it should be a great atmosphere Friday night,” said head coach Matt Peterson.
