Man stabbed to death in his sleep at bus stop in North Vancouver

NORTH The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Vancouver are investigating a stabbing that occurred at a bus stop early Thursday morning.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on September 5, police responded to reports of a stabbing that had occurred at a bus stop on the south side of Marine Drive near Capilano Road. Officers and paramedics arrived and found the victim near the Petro Canada gas station on the north side of Marine Drive. He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

It is alleged that the victim was sleeping at the bus stop when he was attacked by a man. The victim was able to run away and call for help. The injuries sustained by the victim are consistent with stabbings.

Although little is known about the description of the male suspect, investigations to date have shown that the victim and suspect may have known each other. A motive has not yet been identified.

“As the investigation is still in its very early stages, there are many unanswered questions that police are seeking answers to,” said Constable Mansoor Sahak, North Vancouver RCMP spokesperson. “Investigators are reaching out to the public and motorists to help move the investigation forward.”

Investigators are looking for witnesses and motorists with dashcams who were in the area of ​​Marine Drive and Capilano Road between 5:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 5. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 604-985-1311 and reference case number 24-18160.
