Suspect in Montevideo, Minnesota, stabbing in custody – West Central Tribune

MONTEVIDEO – A suspect is in custody in connection with the stabbing of three men that allegedly occurred early Sunday morning at the Inn Like Flinn's bar in downtown Montevideo.

The city of Montevideo announced Thursday that one person is in custody in connection with the stabbing. The CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are assisting Montevideo police in the ongoing investigation into the stabbing.

It was not announced whether other suspects are being sought in connection with the incident.

Three men were treated for cuts after the incident, which was reported at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to initial information from Montevideo police. Police found one of the three lying unconscious on the street in front of the Inn Like Flinn's bar in the city center. He was taken by ambulance to the CCM Health Hospital in Montevideo and then flown to another medical facility.

CCM Health reported that two other men were taken to the hospital for treatment of cuts following the incident. One of those men was also flown to another location for medical treatment, according to police.

In a recent press release from the city of Montevideo, it was pointed out that this and other incidents in recent years had caused concern among the citizens.

“The City of Montevideo and the Montevideo Police take the safety of the people of Montevideo very seriously,” said City Manager Robert Wolfington in a press release.

He reported that the city is reviewing its approach to providing updates on public safety incidents. New policies are being implemented in hopes of creating a better sense of transparency, the release said.

The city manager said it was a challenge to balance the public's need for information with the challenges of an investigation.
