Two students killed, three injured after government bus collides with school bus in Raichur

Bangalore (Karnataka) [India]September 5 (ANI): Two students died and three students were seriously injured when their bus collided head-on with a government bus in Raichur district on Thursday, a senior police official said.

Alok Kumar, Deputy Director General of Police (ADGP), told ANI, “It is a very sad incident that a school bus of Loyola School was hit by a KSRTC bus. Due to potholes on the road, the school bus changed lanes and a KSRTC bus coming from behind collided with it. The accident was so serious that two students died and three students lost limbs… The number of accidents is increasing and it is very shocking.” Former Chief Minister and Karnataka MP Basavaraj Bommai expressed regret over the loss of life in the incident.

“I am deeply saddened to learn about the horrific road accident that occurred today near Kapgal in Manvi Taluk, Raichur district, involving a school bus and a transport bus. In this tragic incident, two students lost their lives and several others were injured. I pray that the souls of the departed find eternal peace and that the injured recover quickly,” Bommai said in a post on X.

Bommai urged the government to immediately announce relief measures from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the deceased students and ensure treatment of the injured.

“I request the state government to immediately announce relief measures from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the deceased students and take all necessary steps to provide proper treatment to the injured,” he added in the post. (ANI)
