With a new main character?: Spin-off to the Prime Video series “Reacher” planned

Good news for fans of the series “Reacher”: Not only is the Prime Video series set to get a third season, a spin-off is apparently also planned. The spin-off is currently already in development, as the US industry magazine “Variety” writes, citing anonymous sources. Nick Santora (54), lead producer and showrunner of the main series, who also developed it for television, is working on the script for the spin-off.

No details are currently known about the plot of the “Reacher” spin-off. However, the focus will probably be on the character Frances Neagley, played by Maria Sten (34), and not the character Jack Reacher, played by Alan Ritchson (41). Sten is also known from the series “Swamp Thing” and “Channel Zero”, among others.

Third season already confirmed

While Jack Reacher will probably not play a major role in the spin-off, fans can still look forward to appearances from Ritchson. Prime Video confirmed some time ago that a third season of the series “Reacher” is planned.

In January, it was announced that “Persuader,” the seventh installment in the Jack Reacher novel series by Lee Child (69), is based on the series and will provide the story for the upcoming episodes. The streaming service also confirmed that Sten will appear alongside Ritchson again and that filming for the season had already begun in Toronto.

The fact that a spin-off is planned is not really surprising. According to the streaming service, the “Reacher” series was number one in the service's charts worldwide on the weekend the second season was released last year. In the first three days after the second season was released, the international audience grew by 50 percent.
