Two children die, many injured when school bus collides with government bus in Raichur

RAICHUR: Two school children died on the spot and many were seriously injured when a school bus collided with a government bus near Kapagal village in Manvi taluk of Raichur district on Thursday morning.

The school bus was on its way from Kurdi village to Loyala School in Manvi when the incident occurred. The dead were identified as Samarth Amaresh (7) and Srikanth Maresha (12). The incident occurred when the children were travelling to school by school bus to wish their teachers on Teachers' Day.

There were about 40 children in the school bus. According to officials, the condition of three children and the school bus driver Balawan is critical. At least 18 children were injured in the accident and most of them are being treated at the RIMS Hospital in Raichur.

Expressing shock over the incident, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on his X-handle that he was saddened by the news that two children had died and many were seriously injured. He said he prayed that the deceased children rest in peace.

The CM said all children injured in the incident would
treated free of charge and the families of the dead compensated
from his government. He said he was with the grieving families in
this hour of crisis.
