ROCHESTER, NY — Rochester police are searching for the man who shot and killed two teenagers near the corner of Atkinson and Van Auker streets Wednesday night and then fled.

Officers were in the area around 10 p.m. when they heard gunshots and saw the suspect they believed to be involved in the incident. RPD pursued the suspect. They attempted to use a New York State Police tracking dog unit and helicopter to track the individual, but the individual escaped.

The two 19-year-olds, one from the city and the other from Henrietta, were taken to Strong Hospital and are expected to survive.
