“Daryl Dixon” fans in Germany go away empty-handed

“Daryl Dixon” fans in Germany go away empty-handed

The Walking Dead franchise has announced numerous specials to mark the return of Daryl Dixon. But German fans are once again left empty-handed.

“The Walking Dead” fans are already counting down the days, because “Daryl Dixon” Season 2 will finally start at the end of September 2024 – simultaneously in the USA and in Germany. Despite all the anticipation, however, audiences in this country have to cope with a small setback. While the new episodes of the zombie spin-off are accompanied by several (!) specials overseas, we are denied this fun.

Third “The Walking Dead” disappointment in a row

It is not the first time that “The Walking Dead” fans in Germany have been forced to hold back. Not only do we have to do without the preview of the first eleven minutes of “The Book of Carol”, the German market is also being denied the big deal between streaming service Netflix and US broadcaster AMC.

About a month before the start of the new “Daryl Dixon” episode, the next drop of bitterness in a large glass of disappointments follows: As ComicBook.com reports, the start of the new season in the USA will take place in a large TV and streaming event. However, this is exclusive to the audience of AMC and AMC+ Since there are neither broadcasters nor streaming services in Germany, we are once again left empty-handed.

In addition to the first episode of the second season, which is to be titled “Le gentilesse des étrangers” (in English: “The Kindness of Strangers”), fans in the USA will get the one-hour special “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Return”. In it, AMC already revealed a first look at the entire sequel. On AMC+, fans can also enjoy “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon at San Diego Comic-Con” – a recording of this year's Comic-Con panel of the zombie spin-off. But that's not all: To celebrate Carol's (Melissa McBride) and Daryl's (Norman Reedus) reunion, the US streaming service has created an exclusive collection of episodes in which they review the best “The Walking Dead” moments of both characters.

If you are primarily interested in the best of, we can (at least partially) help: Both collections consist of a total of six episodes, five of which you can watch in this country either via Disney+, Prime Video, Joyn or Netflix. Only the first sections – “Daryl's Story” and “Carol's Story” from the documentary series “The Walking Dead: Origins” – are not available in Germany.

  • “Alcohol” (S04E12)
  • “The Cell” (S07E03)
  • “Hunger Strike” (S09E04)
  • “Force Majeure” (S11E16)

Carol Peletier’s best-of episodes at a glance:

  • “Carol’s Story”
  • “Dead or Alive” (S02E07)
  • “Beautification” (S04E14)
  • “No Refuge” (S05E01)
  • “Fighter” (S06E02)
  • “What Was Lost” (S11E20)

It is not known whether the other two specials, “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Return” and “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon at San Diego Comic-Con,” will ever premiere in Germany. So far, they have only been announced for AMC and AMC+. What you should definitely not do is change your location with a VPN to access the US services. That is not legal.

Instead, you only have a subscription to MagentaTV in this country to stream “Daryl Dixon” Season 2. You can also watch the spin-offs “Dead City”, “The Ones Who Live” and “Tales of The Walking Dead” there. You can prove how well you know the world of the walking dead in the quiz:
