Michigan man arrested after attack on High Street

September 4 – A Michigan man was charged with malicious wounding after allegedly striking a woman on High Street in Morgantown on Saturday, August 31.

At approximately 3:38 a.m., Morgantown Police were called to a traffic stop conducted by officers from the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department regarding a possible domestic disturbance that had occurred on High Street.

According to court documents, officers said they saw a female passenger during the stop who was “covered in blood and had bruising, swelling and other injuries consistent with an altercation.”

MPD Officer J. LaNeve then spoke with two witnesses to the fight on High Street who reported that a man, later identified as Santonio Delano Dann, 34, of Redford, Michigan, punched and kicked the woman in the face several times.

LaNeve was also able to view surveillance footage that showed Dann punching the victim in the head, then grabbing her by her hair and throwing her to the ground. Once the woman was on the ground, he then kicked and punched her in the head, the criminal complaint states.

Dann was charged with malicious wounding and bail was set at $75,000.

LaNeve noted in the criminal complaint that he did not believe the name Dann provided was his real name. MPD officials said they were investigating the suspect's identity.
