Auburn Police have limited information in their initial investigation into the stabbing death of a 34-year-old man in Auburn.

According to the department, Auburn police officers were dispatched to a welfare check at the corner of 41st Street Southeast and A Street Southeast at around 12:45 a.m. on September 3.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a 34-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest. Officers performed life-saving measures before the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of September 3, Auburn police had no information about “what led to these events.”

“[It’s] “It's too early to say if it was targeted or random,” said Kolby Crossley, spokesman for the Auburn Police Department. “We're just looking for every possible lead.”

Officers discovered the injured 34-year-old man outside, Crossley said.

Investigators are currently reviewing camera footage from the area.

Auburn police have asked the public for information about the stabbing.
