Domestic disturbance leads to stabbing in Hope

On 09/03/2024 at approximately 10:26 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing in the 100 block of Schaefer Ct S in Hope, IN. The victim, later identified as Eric Douglas, age 42, of Hope, had been stabbed multiple times during a domestic dispute.

It is alleged that a minor physical altercation occurred between Douglas and another resident, during which another resident, a male juvenile, stabbed Douglas multiple times in the back. Douglas was transported by helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he remains in treatment. The juvenile suspect was arrested for assault and taken to the Bartholomew County Youth Services Center, where he remains in custody. The identity of the juvenile is not being released at this time.

This is a preliminary investigation. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
