Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday's (September 4) episode, available to stream now on Channel 4. The episode in question airs on Thursday, September 5 at 7pm on E4.

Frankie Osborne (Isabelle Smith) was stunned when JJ (Ryan Mulvey) was arrested by the police. A social worker was present during the altercation, suggesting that someone had informed the authorities about her experience of abuse.

As viewers know, the teenager was sexually abused by her twin brother JJ, who tried to silence her by telling her that no one would believe her if she opened up and branding her “unlovable.”

After a particularly frightening incident last month, Frankie found the strength to tell Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) the truth and – to her shock – he didn’t doubt her for a second.

Frankie was overwhelmed by her father's support, but swore secrecy. Darren wanted to protect and support his daughter and respected her wishes so much that he kept Nancy (Jessica Fox) in the dark.

That all changed on Wednesday, however, when JJ told Nancy that Frankie had made an accusation against him that he claimed was not true.

But Nancy saw through his lies and returned home to Basswood Road to talk to Darren.

Knowing that Nancy had to know, Darren burst into tears and confirmed that JJ had sexually abused Frankie.

In emotional scenes that featured powerful performances from series titans Jessica Fox and Ashley Taylor Dawson, Nancy supported Darren and hugged him as they discussed next steps.

Darren was determined not to betray Frankie's trust, and Nancy had little choice but to contact Child Services herself. At school, a social worker and a police officer approached Frankie.

JJ witnessed the scene and thought Frankie had reported him. He started lashing out and becoming abusive. The police officer then intervened and arrested the teenager on the spot.

Frankie burst into tears, afraid that everyone would find out about her ordeal, while her best friend Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) looked on, confused and surprised by what was happening.

Will JJ finally face the consequences?

And will Frankie be able to tell the police what she went through?
